Despite the current difficult circumstances surrounding COVID-19, and the subsequent lockdown, at The Fleet Care Home we are working hard to keep everything as normal as possible for residents and families.

Here we have pulled together some answers to our most Frequently Asked Questions about our care during COVID-19. However, we are always happy to answer any individual queries you may have so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We are happy to say we do not have COVID-19 in our home.

Following our procedures and strictly guidelines we are currently able to admit new residents into our home. We have put in place a step by step guide on our process and how it will feel to be a resident coming into our home at this time. Why not speak with our Manager and they can discuss this with you in greater detail?

Throughout this time we will continue to safely admit new residents, with additional procedures in place to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our current residents and staff. 

Any new admission from hospital will require to have two negative tests prior to the agreed admission date. Any other new admissions will require to have at least one negative test. All new residents will be required to isolate for 14 days, however at the home we use this time to help our residents familiarise themselves with the home and the team. They are greatly supported by our team every day including set up of activities to make the most of your day and time at the home.

As you would expect our priority will always be to maintain safety. New guidelines have now been set in place around how we progress through the stages of admission and discharge, and we will always follow the guidelines to enable a safe transfer to our home or those who may be leaving.

With our highly trained and dedicated teams we offer exemplary standards of residential, nursing and palliative care. We are committed to offering the highest quality of care for every resident. Each of our residents are allocated their own care assistant to ensure consistency of care together – we aim to establish a good relationship with our resident and members of their family.

Great food is something we pride ourselves in. Our in-house Chefs and kitchen staff cater for all dietary requirements, providing a full menu choice for breakfast, lunch and tea. Residents can also enjoy a meal together with relatives and friends if they so wish. Whatever your favourite meal our Chef is sure to make sure it’s on his shopping list.

We have a dedicated and full-time Activities and Events Co-ordinator who encourages residents to take part in group activities, such as exercise, bingo, quizzes as well as listening and dancing to music.

They also spend time one-to-one with residents concentrating on person-centred interests – for example reminiscing over old photos, enjoying arts and crafts or simply just reading a story aloud.  

For new residents who are in their initial 14-day period with us, our Activities Team are dedicated to ensuring this time is spent enjoyably.
