Some visitors also use Paignton station (on the Dartmouth Steam Railway) and then cross the River Dart by ferry into Dartmouth, but the Totnes route is more direct for standard rail travel.

Stagecoach South West runs several bus routes serving Dartmouth. For instance, Route 92 operates regularly between Totnes and Dartmouth and Route 3 provides an hourly service from Plymouth into Dartmouth. A local Route 93 links Kingsbridge with Dartmouth via Stoke Fleming. These buses call at stops near Dartmouth town centre (e.g. on Manor Road by the Post Office or Fore Street near the Townsend House medical centre), within easy walking distance of the care home. There is also a Dartmouth Park & Ride just outside town on the A3122, with frequent buses (Route 91/92) into Dartmouth, which visitors can use if preferred. (Visitors should check the latest timetables on the Stagecoach or Traveline websites.)
